Georgia / Care briefings

A guide to finding and understanding care

Check licenses

Check the names behind the offer.

The situation

You have the prescriber's name and a pharmacy name. Now you want to check the records yourself.

Match the full name on the offer to the name in the state record. A badge on a page is a different kind of information.

  1. Prescriber name
  2. Pharmacy name
  3. Matching state records
Check the person and the pharmacy separately.

FDA is the federal drug agency: the Food and Drug Administration.

From the record

Doctors and physician assistants

Georgia's free medical-board search shows license status, dates and public orders for doctors and physician assistants.

Record checked in September 2026.

Read what the record actually says

A physician assistant is a licensed medical professional who works with a supervising doctor.

Compare the spelling and license number. Read any public order rather than guessing what it means from a search result.

A public order is a written action by the board.

Nurses and nurse practitioners

The Georgia Board of Nursing oversees nurses, including nurse practitioners; its state licensing page links to the free license search.

A nurse practitioner has advanced nursing training. Ask about the prescribing agreement as well as the nursing license.

A shipment from another state adds a permit check

As of September 2026, shipping prescription orders into Georgia requires an out-of-state pharmacy to hold Georgia's nonresident permit.

Nonresident means the pharmacy is based in another state.

Ask for the Georgia permit details and look for the pharmacy's actual name.

Use each record for its own question

A license listing confirms that a license exists. It cannot tell you whether your own medicine was prepared and supplied correctly.

Ask the pharmacy who made your medicine and whom to call about a label or delivery problem.

As of September 2026, FDA registration is a listing of a business or drug, not approval of that business or medicine.

For an approved medicine, ask for the FDA record for the exact finished product and its use.
