A guide to finding and understanding care

Online visits

# A screen is a way to meet.

The situation

An online visit looks easier to fit into your day. You want to know what happens after you fill in the form.

Telehealth means care by video, phone or online messages. Ask which doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant would review your health and discuss treatment.

- Share your history

- Discuss the questions

- Agree the next step

Bring the same questions to a screen as to a room.

## The form is the beginning of the conversation

Write down the medicines you take, what you want help with and what has already been tried.

Ask who reads those notes and how you can send another question.

From the record

### A fixed form is not a full assessment

In guidance checked in September 2026, the group representing state medical boards says treatment must not rest on a fixed questionnaire alone.

That is guidance for medical boards; it does not replace Georgia's own rules.

Record checked in September 2026.

From the record

### Know how to reach the person treating you

As of September 2026, Georgia's online-care rule requires the treating person's name, qualifications and emergency contact details, plus clear instructions for urgent follow-up.

## The next step may be in person

As of September 2026, Georgia requires the same level of care online as in a clinic. To find the cause of your problem, the treating person must use your health history and any exams or tests needed.

Ask who would arrange any needed exam or test if the online visit leaves the question unanswered.

## Ask what ongoing care includes

Who replies between visits? How do you get a copy of the plan? What happens if treatment is not offered?

## Check before the form

- Request the name of the person who will review your health.

- Ask how you can discuss your own concerns.

- Ask how in-person follow-up would work.

## Keep the next question in view.
